One Minute Message
Shame, an Issue of Identity…
Do you feel that something is wrong with you?

In this one minute message Pastor Steve reminds us that when another person wrongs us, we do not have to carry the weight of guilt, and that feeling ashamed should not be an aspect of our identity. Rather, we should let go of that feeling of being ashamed and let God define us. So listen or read the one minute message to be reminded of your true identity…

Shame: An Issue of Identity

Hi, this is Steve Peterson with Fresh Start for All Nations.

Do you ever struggle with shame?

Every type of shame finds its source in sin. If we are guilty of sin, we’re going to feel guilty, which is a good thing, that we do feel guilty about sin.

But there’s also a false guilt type of shame, and that is when I’m thinking about. “Well, maybe there’s something wrong with me…” –Maybe it’s rooted in rejection,  maybe it’s something that’s happened to you–it’s not your sin, it’s somebody else’s sin against you. They violated you, they’ve used you.  Yet you feel guilty. You feel like there’s something wrong with you. That’s why this type of shame is an identity issue. It’s often characterized by, “there’s something wrong with me.”

So here’s my encouragement: Receive your sonship. Receive your daughterhood. Let God define you, even as He is refining you!

This is Steve Peterson reminding you that It’s Never Too Late for a FRESH START!
